The GPS Professional Services consulting team helps these organizations unlock the full potential of their cloud investments, accelerating their digital transformation, and driving impactful results. As a Security Consultant, you will be a trusted advisor to public sector organizations, working closely with them to understand their unique security challenges and objectives. You will guide them through their cloud journey, ensuring their Google Cloud environment is secure, compliant, and resilient. Google Public Sector brings the magic of Google to the mission of government and education with solutions purpose-built for enterprises. We focus on helping United States public sector institutions accelerate their digital transformations, and we continue to make significant investments and grow our team to meet the complex needs of local, state and federal government and educational institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers to develop and harden cloud architectures that align with Google's best practices and meet their specific security requirements.
  • Work with customers to fortify their cloud architectures against potential threats and disruptions, ensuring continuity and reliability.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to customers during security incidents, helping them contain and mitigate threats effectively.
  • Perform security and compliance assessments of customers environments, identifying vulnerabilities, and recommending remediation strategies.
  • Partner with Google's internal Security teams and external partners to leverage their expertise and insights, ensuring a coordinated and effective approach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python).
  • 3 years of experience in a consulting role leading or supporting enterprise customers with cloud architecture development, hardening, or threat detection.
  • Experience in technical troubleshooting, and managing internal/external partners or customers.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer (PCSE).
  • Certification in Security+, CISSP, or similar.
  • 5 years of experience advising large enterprise, telecommunications, or government customers.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, DoD Risk Management Framework, StateRAMP, CJIS, and similar public sector compliance standards.
