About the position

The Security Technology Specialist at Eversource is responsible for supporting all Corporate Security technology systems. This role involves making independent decisions on security technology issues, interfacing with management, and providing direction to Corporate Security staff and contract security guards. The position is hybrid, requiring full-time office presence for the first three months.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and implementation of physical security systems, including video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Support administration and maintenance of corporate security systems, including set-up requests, testing, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide testing documentation of performance tests on critical infrastructure.
  • Support Corporate Security staff related to investigations and provide guidance to contract security guard staff regarding security technology issues.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure that physical security systems meet organizational needs.
  • Support technology projects including testing, maintenance, upgrades, and new installations of security technology equipment.
  • Review design drawings for appropriate security coverage within all systems.
  • Ensure adherence to proper test methods and record-keeping requirements.
  • Provide in-house technical support and manage vendor support for physical security systems.
  • Support security technology maintenance program to ensure availability of critical physical security systems.
  • Record and maintain data associated with corporate physical security technology systems, including programming and networking configurations.
  • Support Eversource's compliance requirements with applicable government regulations related to security technology systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, standards, and regulations related to physical security technology systems.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes and/or improvements in physical security systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) plus years of experience in technical security systems.
  • In-depth understanding of NERC CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) desired.
  • Strong understanding of various network configurations (LAN, WAN, etc.).
  • Strong aptitude for programming and configuring access control and Video Management System based software.
  • Strong understanding of camera configurations, including codecs, bitrate, framerate, etc.
  • Strong understanding of relay-based logic for applications in access control.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to operate a variety of software programs relating to physical security systems and databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and strong communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Genetec access control system is desirable.
