About the position

The Security Tools Engineer / Sr. Network Security Engineer will support a US government agency by managing and modernizing various Network Security Tools. This role involves hands-on technical support, administration, and troubleshooting of security technologies, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Support Network Security Tool engineering, administration, maintenance, and modernization efforts.
  • Provide technical hands-on support for various Security Tool technologies including SASE, EDR, DLP, Web Proxy, Email Security, IDPS, Firewall, and SIEM.
  • Create deployment, update, and upgrade plans and perform the outlined work.
  • Perform routine health checks and maintenance tasks, and implement new capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot issues with Network Security Tools and collaborate with vendors for resolution.
  • Support the deployment of new Network Security Tools as needed.
  • Develop, execute, and improve work instructions and technical documentation related to Network Security Tools.
  • Analyze performance issues of Security Tools using various tools.
  • Document work accurately in formats such as work instructions, change management requests, incident tickets, and emails.
  • Improve efficiency through process improvement and automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Seven (7) years of related information security experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of hands-on technical support experience with SASE, EDR, DLP, Web Proxy, Email Security, IDPS, Firewall, and SIEM Technologies.
  • Two (2) years of experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Two (2) years of experience administering SIEM.
  • Two (2) years of experience in scripting and automation.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing and improving technical documentation related to Security Tool Administration.
  • Industry standard cybersecurity certification (e.g. Security+).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
