The Security Visitor Management Specialist at Wellstar Health Systems plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of the hospital environment. This position is situated at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia, and operates under the supervision of a Security Officer. The specialist is expected to adopt a proactive approach to security, demonstrating excellent communication skills and professionalism in various situations. The primary responsibilities include managing visitor access, providing customer service, and maintaining a secure atmosphere for employees, patients, and visitors alike. In this role, the Security Ambassador will be stationed at a fixed post or will patrol assigned areas to uphold peace and order. They will serve as the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring that all individuals are checked in according to established policies and procedures. The specialist will also act as a visible deterrent to crime and suspicious activities, fostering a safe environment in both public and non-public areas of the facility. The position requires the individual to maintain positive relationships with facility staff and possess a thorough understanding of the hospital's layout and operations. Effective communication with a diverse range of individuals, including clients, employees, and visitors, is essential. The specialist will be responsible for documenting incidents, hazards, and observations, and will take immediate corrective actions to address any unsafe conditions. Additionally, they will assist in emergency response situations and provide support to facility personnel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Act as the primary point of contact for visitor management, ensuring all visitors are checked in per policy and procedure
  • Provide visible deterrence to crime and suspicious activities
  • Maintain positive working relationships with facility staff members
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the facility and its operations
  • Communicate effectively with diverse individuals including clients, employees, and visitors
  • Write accurate, clear, and legible reports
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and in-service classes related to the Security Department
  • Enforce the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Wellstar Health System
  • Provide assistance to employees, patients, and visitors
  • Assist with traffic and parking control
  • Document observations, hazards, and incidents for follow-up corrective action
  • Take immediate corrective action against hazards and conditions which may cause injury or damage
  • Report unsafe conditions and actions taken to the supervisor
  • Assist with emergency response as directed by supervisor
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Escort persons and assist facility personnel
  • Be vigilant and alert for activities that could result in injury or damage to property.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Georgia Driver's License required
  • Less than 1 year of experience in private safety/security, military, or law enforcement preferred
