About the position

The Selection & Assessment-Senior Manager at Verizon is responsible for developing and implementing skills strategies that support the company's talent management initiatives. This role involves leading complex, cross-functional projects, collaborating with various teams, and managing external vendor partnerships to enhance employee development through effective assessment practices. The position requires a strategic thinker who can influence and set standards for skills vendors while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Build skills strategy that enables Verizon's talent management strategy in areas such as recruiting, training, internal mobility, and performance.
  • Lead and project manage complex, cross-functional projects focused on skills strategy.
  • Manage project teams that include internal and external skills partners and analytics teams.
  • Influence and set standards for external skills vendor partners.
  • Partner with assessment vendors and other Talent teams to implement assessments for employee development.
  • Lead large-scale cross-functional skills initiatives including skills proficiency and validation.
  • Conduct needs analysis and job analysis competency modeling to identify skills gaps.
  • Compile and conduct benchmarking and reviews of existing skills and assessments research literature.
  • Partner with niche professionals in psychometric assessment and coaching.
  • Develop implementation guidelines, processes, communications, and training for skill-based solutions.
  • Create and conduct success measurement studies to demonstrate ROI for strategies and programs.
  • Serve as an expert resource for assessment considerations.
  • Ensure solutions comply with legal, regulatory, and professional requirements.
  • Support maintenance of Verizon's evergreen job taxonomy.
  • Contribute to HR transformation projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • Experience designing and executing data analyses and using inferential statistics.
  • Experience with workplace assessments.
  • Experience in global learning and development strategy and evaluation.
  • Experience applying assessment practices to talent management or training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. or Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field.
  • Consulting experience in selection and assessment.
  • Experience with AI/Machine learning skills vendors and technologies.
  • Experience with Qualtrics survey design and analysis.
  • Experience with validation practices.
  • Experience managing large-scale learning and development projects.
  • Experience leading a team and coaching employees.
  • Experience creating executive presentations.
  • Familiarity with professional standards in employment testing and measurement.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SPSS, SAS, or other statistical packages.
