About the position

The Self-Direction Specialist at Arc GLOW is responsible for supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals through self-directed services. This role involves managing self-direction budgets, overseeing self-hired staff, and facilitating the development of a Circle of Support for program participants. The position emphasizes person-centered care, respect, integrity, and community involvement, ensuring that individuals are empowered to lead fulfilling lives.

Responsibilities

• Review, submit and monitor Self-Direction budgets in accordance with OPWDD guidelines
• Co-manage self-hired staff
• Oversee and monitor training of self-hired staff through their duration of employment
• Assist program participants with developing and maintaining a Circle of Support/Planning Team
• Assist with planning and directing team meetings, including scheduling and facilitating meetings
• Identify new team members and assign roles and tasks for Circle of Support/Planning Team members
• Ensure team members are freely chosen by the participant and operate in their best interests
• Maintain program related records and documentation
• Comply with agency and OPWDD fiscal procedures in relation to program billing
• Attend semi-annual and annual service plan reviews
• Administer self-directed services in accordance with OPWDD guidelines

Requirements

• Bachelor's and/or Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field with one-year experience working with Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
• High School Diploma with comparable education and/or experience may be considered
• Valid NYS driver's license with a safe driving record per agency policy
