About the position
The Self-Direction Specialist at Unity House is responsible for empowering individuals with disabilities to develop daily living skills and habits. This role involves advocating for clients, guiding them in expressing personal choices, and ensuring their health, safety, and community integration. The position is part-time, requiring flexibility and some weekend availability, and focuses on providing personalized support based on the unique needs of each individual.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals in learning and developing daily living skills and habits.
- Help clients take care of their personal needs.
- Advocate for and encourage clients to express personal choices.
- Ensure community integration and health and safety for clients.
- Create a comfortable home environment for individuals being served.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Minimum of a GED or high school diploma required.
- Valid and acceptable driver's license is necessary.
