About the position

The Selling and Support Captain at Macy's is a pivotal role focused on enhancing customer satisfaction and driving brand loyalty. This position involves leading colleagues in delivering exceptional service, executing merchandising tasks, and supporting promotional initiatives. The Captain acts as a role model and advocate for customers, ensuring a high-quality shopping experience while also providing feedback to improve store processes. Opportunities for advancement include roles such as Personal Stylist or Sales and Customer Experience Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill customer orders, merchandise, process new products, or supervise the selling floor to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Lead colleagues in the execution and completion of assigned tasks.
  • Role model and provide fast feedback on enhancing customer experiences.
  • Ensure high-level customer service through problem-solving and customer-focused resolutions.
  • Promote the Macy's mobile app to enhance the in-store customer experience.
  • Meet with People Leaders to plan and monitor total store activities throughout the day.
  • Provide continuous feedback to People Leaders to drive a positive customer experience and improve processes.
  • Perform store opening and closing procedures, including accessing the alarm system and settling registers.
  • Lead adherence to best-in-class merchandise standards.
  • Educate colleagues on point of sale technology and applications to assist in selling and fulfilling customer orders.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of direct retail experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in communicating effectively with customers and providing clear direction to colleagues.
  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays with regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Self-starter in adapting quickly to changing customer expectations and needs.
  • Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines.
