About the position

At HDR, we specialize in engineering, architecture, environmental, and construction services. We are well-known for adding beauty and structure to communities through high-performance buildings and smart infrastructure, but we provide much more than that. Our multidisciplinary teams include scientists, economists, builders, analysts, and artists, which is why we believe diversity is our greatest strength. HDR is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer. We believe that the way we work can add meaning and value to the world, that ideas inspire positive change, and that collaboration is the best way forward. We are looking for a Semiconductor Engineering Principal who will focus on the leadership and technical expertise of the design and planning of projects in the semiconductor and microelectronics markets and related facilities across North America. The ideal candidate will be based in one of HDR's offices in Phoenix, Dallas, or Austin, but we will consider applicants from across the country. This role presents an opportunity to join an established but growing semiconductor practice in the A&E industry. The successful candidate must possess the drive, experience, and charisma needed to secure a robust client base, deliver technical excellence, and expand HDR's reputation within this market. Responsibilities include understanding the semiconductor building design process, facilitating clear communication, and providing leadership for the entire design team. The candidate will be a conceptual thinker who can engage and challenge our architectural designers and engineering team during the early stages of projects to inform design strategies. Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior staff, developing strategies for new business, and collaborating with operations leadership to lead pursuit discussions. The Semiconductor Engineering Principal will also monitor and track projects for successful execution, ensuring that all of HDR's services are leveraged in this combination of a technical and business development role.
