About the position

This position involves working as part of a diverse team at Google's Raxium display group, focusing on developing custom silicon solutions for direct-to-consumer products. The role is centered around semiconductor wafer fabrication, contributing to innovative display technologies that enhance user experiences in augmented reality and light-field displays. The position requires technical expertise in various fabrication processes and aims to improve yield, reduce defects, and ensure process reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, sustain, and support daily wafer fabrication processes including lithography, thin film, etch, clean, thermal, metrology/characterization, and backside end of line processes.
  • Provide technical support to operators, technicians, and other engineers to ensure process reliability and consistency.
  • Review, propose, optimize, improve, and implement wafer fabrication processes for yield improvement, defectivity reduction, and cycle time reduction.
  • Enhance area process control plans and process capability through best known manufacturing methods and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Drive problem resolution processes related to quality excursions in the fab area using data analytics, methodical problem solving, failure analysis (FA), design of experiments (DOE), and mistake-proofing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in semiconductor wafer fabrication.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, failure analysis, and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
  • 5 years of experience in semiconductor wafer fabrication with expertise in multiple process areas.
  • Experience with yield improvement, defectivity reduction, and cycle time reduction initiatives.
  • Experience with equipment qualification and implementation.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
