About the position

The Semiconductor Wet Process Engineer Lead at Raytheon is responsible for leading process development efforts in the III-V process development team, focusing on gallium nitride-based devices and III-V focal plane array fabrication. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of microelectronics processing techniques and involves multitasking, problem-solving, and collaboration within cross-functional teams to improve product yield and develop new processes.

Responsibilities

  • Processing wafers to create FETs, MMICs, and FPAs in a cleanroom environment.
  • Working well in small, cross-functional teams to assist in pursuing contract R&D and transitioning processes into production.
  • Managing small projects or processes within the area of responsibility.
  • Working autonomously with limited oversight.
  • Providing input or guidance to lower-level professionals with tasks and assignments.
  • Influencing others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Communicating with parties within and outside of the department, including customers and vendors.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior work experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of prior work experience, or a PhD with a minimum of 3 years of prior work experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor processing techniques such as photolithography, dry etching, wet etching, plating, metals evaporation, and optical or scanning electron microscope inspections.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required post-start.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's or PhD in STEM.
  • Experience in semiconductor processing techniques in wet etch, wet cleans, and plating process areas.
  • Experience working in a controlled, cleanroom environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting diverse fabrication equipment and establishing equipment qualification and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with statistical process control and lean manufacturing methods (e.g., Six Sigma).
  • Experience utilizing data analysis software packages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, SQL, JMP).
  • Experience with characterizing, understanding, and improving semiconductor device performance and reliability.
