About the position
The Senate Page/Doorkeeper position at the Oregon State Senate is a limited duration role aimed at assisting with the daily operations of the Senate during the 2025 Regular Session. The role involves enforcing chamber rules, distributing publications, and ensuring the Senate chamber is prepared for daily sessions. The position requires on-site work in Salem and is expected to last from January 6, 2025, to June 29, 2025, or until the conclusion of the legislative session.
Responsibilities
- Control ingress and egress to the chamber floor during floor session adhering to Senate rules and customs.
- Enforce rules of decorum as prescribed by the Rules of the Senate.
- Ensure the chamber is prepared daily for floor session.
- Distribute daily publications to Capitol offices.
- Greet visitors and respond efficiently to questions.
Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in an integrated team setting.
- Ability to work efficiently and respond promptly in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and an impartial, non-partisan perspective in a political environment.
- Familiarity with general office equipment such as computer, copier, and telephone.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of Capitol building layout and location of services and offices within the building.
- Maintain a friendly and helpful demeanor.
Benefits
- Salary range of $2,960 - $4,439 per month.
