About the position

As a Senior Commercial Card Account Executive, you will play a pivotal role in selling our Commercial Card services to help clients grow their businesses. This position involves engaging with 'C' level executives at targeted enterprise-level businesses, hospitals, educational institutions, and government entities. You will be responsible for developing new client relationships, negotiating deals, and utilizing your problem-solving and relationship management skills to meet or exceed sales goals. In this role, you will conduct sales calls that utilize a consultative business process, guiding prospective clients through the sales cycle from the initial appointment to contract signing. You will set appointments through various channels, including telephone, email, and marketing campaigns, and identify client goals for process improvement, recommending tailored solutions to meet these objectives. Your responsibilities will also include providing value-added services such as technical support and product development, negotiating contract terms and pricing, and preparing customized proposals and sales presentations. This position requires a strong understanding of business concepts, particularly in accounts payable, purchasing, and accounting systems. You will need to demonstrate advanced data analysis skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior management. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter, capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a keen attention to detail. You will also need to possess superior presentation skills and the ability to adapt to various situations with a positive outlook, aligning with our culture and core values.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sales calls using consultative business process reviews and move prospective clients through the sales cycle from the first appointment to contract signing.
  • Set appointments with prospects through telephone, email, and marketing campaigns.
  • Identify prospect goals and objectives for process improvement and recommend solutions to help meet these goals and objectives.
  • Provide value-added services including technical support, product development, and relationship management.
  • Negotiate contract terms and pricing that will be appealing to the customer and deliver an acceptable return to Commerce Bank.
  • Prepare customized requests for information, requests for proposals, file spend analysis, proposals, and sales presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and meet Commerce Bank's driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements.
  • Strong understanding of business concepts including accounts payable, purchasing, and accounting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the consultative sales process.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Skilled at interacting with senior managers and able to develop a business case.
  • Able to work independently but with some oversight from a direct supervisor.
  • Capable of managing relationships independently and in negotiating sales and contracts.
  • Superior presentation skills.
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the banking or financial services field is preferred.
