About the position

The Senior Accountant - Accounting Policy role at Devon Energy Corporation involves supporting the company by researching accounting treatments for strategic transactions and accounting policies, as well as assisting with financial reporting and technical research related to SEC filings. The position requires effective collaboration with peers and management across various disciplines to ensure timely completion of tasks and adherence to internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Review and research financial reporting matters related to SEC reporting.
• Interpret and implement new accounting standards under the direction of the Supervisor.
• Assist in producing technical accounting research position papers for management.
• Interact and coordinate with external auditors to address technical issues under the direction of Supervisor.
• Interacts with others to improve departmental communications and overall accounting efficiencies.
• Understands and adheres to systems of internal control.
• Develop, challenge and implement new corporate accounting policies/procedures under the direction of the Supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Approximately 2 or more years of experience in financial reporting and/or oil and gas accounting.
• Strong preference for experience in technical research and public accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with data effectively.
