About the position

The Senior Accountant - Budget & Profitability Analyst at First Commonwealth Bank plays a crucial role in the financial operations of the organization. This position involves performing comprehensive accounting and budget analysis, providing financial knowledge, and offering technical assistance to various departments. The individual will be responsible for developing, preparing, revising, and maintaining a variety of financial reports, statements, and records in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to analyze and evaluate the accuracy of financial data, ensuring proper classification and amounts in the general ledger and other financial reports. In addition to routine accounting tasks, the Senior Accountant will participate in the annual budget process, including periodic forecasts, and will provide financial support for revenue lines of business and support areas. The position also involves preparing spreadsheets and presentations, maintaining databases, and conducting financial analysis related to corporate, regional, and specialized profitability reporting. The Senior Accountant will monitor and review financial summaries and detailed reports for accuracy and compliance, implementing necessary corrections as needed. The role may also include resolving discrepancies, processing documents for automated systems, and completing special projects or assignments as required. Knowledge or experience in corporate and state tax administration is considered a plus, and the individual may assist in compiling information for internal and external auditors as requested. This position is essential for ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the bank's accounting and budgeting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the annual budget process, including periodic forecasts.
  • Performs budget analysis and reviews, providing financial knowledge and technical assistance for revenue lines of business.
  • Develops, prepares, revises, and maintains various accounting, budget, profitability, and financial reports in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepares spreadsheets and presentations, maintaining databases for accounting, budget, and financial analysis work.
  • Analyzes and evaluates the accuracy of general ledger, accounting details, revenues, expenditures, and financial reports.
  • Monitors and reviews financial summaries and detailed reports for accuracy and compliance, implementing corrections as necessary.
  • Resolves discrepancies and processes documents for input into automated systems.
  • Develops, prepares, reviews, and analyzes a variety of budgets and financial reports on a regular basis.
  • Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as needed.
  • Assists in compiling information for internal and external auditors as requested.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of equivalent experience in accounting-related positions required.
  • Experience with financial operations systems preferred; specific experience with Axiom software is a plus.
  • Proficiency in typing, Microsoft Office software, analytical or mathematical skills, and strong communication and interpersonal relations are required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge or experience in Corporate and State tax administration is a plus.
  • Experience with Axiom software is preferred.
