About the position

The Senior Accountant position at Broward College's Foundation supports the accounting and financial operations of the Finance Department. This role involves applying accounting practices to manage complex accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and assisting with period close requirements. The position also includes analyzing financial data, preparing management reports, and acting as a backup to the Senior Director of Foundation Financial Management Reporting as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks outlined in the close checklist and process correcting entries.
  • Analyze Balance Sheet and profit & loss accounts to identify errors and propose adjustments with minimal supervision.
  • Process Accounts Payables by overseeing submission of check requests and posting to the financial system for vendor payments.
  • Assist with month-end close processes, including reconciling monthly college invoices and preparing gift reconciliations.
  • Prepare accounting journal entries for receivables and apply revenue recognition for recording expenses and revenue.
  • Prepare reconciliations and financial statements for various funding sources and interact with auditors as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable accounting principles and perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting required.
  • Six years of relevant experience in accounting.
  • Experience using accounting systems to perform accounting and financial functions.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $52,900 - $62,158 based on education and experience.
  • Full-time regular position with a 40-hour work week.
