About the position

Silver Airways, a leader in the aviation industry, is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant who is CPA certified to join our dynamic team in Hollywood, FL. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining financial integrity and ensuring compliance with accounting principles, which are essential for the overall success of our organization. We are looking for dedicated and detail-oriented professionals who are eager to take on a challenging role in the dynamic aviation industry. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for processing transactions and performing various accounting duties, including account maintenance, recording entries, and reconciling subledgers by verifying posted accounting transactions. You will also be tasked with reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances, keeping track of prepaids and accruals, and assisting with Accounts Payable processes. Additionally, you will assist with the month-end close process and perform other duties as directed. The ideal candidate will have experience as a fixed asset accountant, including recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets. You should also have experience in cost accounting, performing cost analyses, preparing budget reports, and assessing business expenses. A solid understanding of the month-end close process is essential, as is a strong understanding of the reconciliation process, emphasizing the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Proficiency in using ERP systems to manage financial transactions and streamline processes is required, along with a strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure compliance in financial reporting. Hands-on experience with month-end GL activities and accounts payable management is a plus. Strong analytical skills are necessary to analyze and interpret complex financial data and trends.

Responsibilities

  • Processing transactions and performing accounting duties, such as account maintenance, recording entries, and reconciling subledgers by verifying posted accounting transactions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required; MBA a plus
  • A minimum of four years of accounting, budgeting, and financial experience required
  • CPA Required
  • Fixed asset accountant experience recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets
  • Experience in cost accounting performing cost analyses and preparing budget reports
  • Maintenance accounting experience with repair and maintenance costs
  • Solid understanding of the month-end close process
  • Strong understanding of the reconciliation process
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems to manage financial transactions
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Hands-on experience with month-end GL activities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data and trends

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in accounts payable management is a plus
  • Airline, cruise, transportation, logistics, or manufacturing experience desired
