The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the financial management and reporting functions of the organization. This position involves overseeing and performing a variety of accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance with financial regulations, and timely reporting. The Senior Accountant often collaborates with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and management, to support strategic decision-making. In this role, the Senior Accountant will lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, which includes reconciling accounts, making adjusting entries, and ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded. Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger is essential, as is reviewing account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies to ensure proper classification of transactions. The Senior Accountant will also prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will analyze and record necessary prepaid expenses and accruals to reflect accurate current assets and liabilities for each accounting period. They will ensure that all credit card accounts are reconciled and any discrepancies are resolved. Maintaining fixed assets and lease queries is also part of the role to provide accurate fixed assets and lease accounting. Continuous assessment of accounting processes and systems is expected, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and implementing best practices. Collaboration with other departments to gather financial data, provide insights, and support strategic planning is crucial. The Senior Accountant will work with management to develop and manage budgets and participate in forecasting exercises to provide insights into financial trends and performance. They will also provide support to the Accounts Receivable and Payables functions as necessary. Implementing and monitoring internal control procedures to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and maintain data security is a key responsibility. The Senior Accountant will coordinate and assist during internal and external audits, providing documentation, explanations, and ensuring audit readiness. They will prepare and review tax filings, including income tax, sales tax, and other regulatory reporting, staying updated on tax regulations to ensure compliance. Participation in special projects, financial analysis, and initiatives as required by the organization's changing needs is also expected.
