About the position

Global Atlantic is seeking a candidate to join the newly formed finance data transformation group. This candidate will play a crucial role in driving the Enterprise Transaction Data and implementing the Organization's Data Strategy across the Financial Transaction Domain. The position requires supporting changes in alignment with the organization's Data Transformation initiative, which involves collaborating with the business to ensure adherence to the Data Governance and Data Management Strategy. Candidates must thrive in a complex, fast-paced, and fluid environment, demonstrating a proven ability to execute results timely and accurately while adhering to strict deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, are essential for success in this role. The responsibilities of this position include providing general support and assistance to existing and new data transformation projects, data mapping of the General Ledger systems and chart of accounts, and assisting in the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process by performing tests on initial accounting journal entry results created by automated IT processes. Day-to-day responsibilities also encompass developing data definitions, measurements, and exception handling. The candidate will be responsible for escalating complex or critical issues to the manager and other team members, demonstrating awareness of the linkage between Data Strategy and the overall finance strategy. The role requires the ability to affect change within their department and with both direct and indirect stakeholders. The candidate will report to the Finance Data Steward and work closely with technology partners to implement technology-related processes that support the data governance program. Additionally, the candidate will create and maintain business metadata definitions, domain values, business rules, and execute testing related to the buildout of the reporting warehouse, acting as a liaison between IT and Reinsurance Accounting to develop automated reporting for internal management and external regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 1-3 years of specialized experience as a data practitioner in Insurance or Financial Services.
  • Tableau experience required.
  • SQL experience preferred.
  • Insurance related accounting experience including month end close and GL reconciliation is a plus.
  • Experience in Insurance Accounting and/or Operations, with a foundational understanding of the upstream processes and impacts to downstream accounting and reporting.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully handle competing priorities and manage multiple deliverables.
