About the position

The Senior Grants Accountant position at Broward College is responsible for supporting the operations of the Grants Accounting department. This role involves managing award and project billings, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with contract terms. The Senior Grants Accountant will work closely with grant managers, project directors, and other stakeholders, acting as a backup to the District Director of Grants Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with setting up grant awards and grant budgets, maintaining electronic files of all contracts, awards, and grants.
  • Ensures that grants and contract funding are allocated and expended appropriately, analyzes budget spending rates, and forecasts year-end expenditures.
  • Prepares and submits monthly and quarterly invoices to funders and other stakeholders.
  • Assists Grants project managers and directors in performing account maintenance, including creating journal entries for cost transfers and adjustments.
  • Assists in the completion of the annual single audit reports on federal awards.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for grants accounting and compliance, providing training to stakeholders.
  • Assists with the College's ERP system's maintenance and testing, including Workday and web applications for award management.
  • Reviews, reports, analyzes, and interprets complex grants-related accounting information, monitoring compliance with sponsor and regulatory policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Six years of relevant experience in grants/contracts/accounting, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with accounting software and financial management systems, with Workday experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance preferred.
  • Strong skills in spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience in higher education accounting preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of computerized systems and operating environments.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $52,900 - $62,158 based on education and experience.
