About the position

The Senior Accountant (Manager in Training) at Right Choice Accounting Solutions is a pivotal role that combines high-level accounting responsibilities with exceptional client service. This position is designed for an individual who will act as a key member of the accounting team, ensuring that client needs are met while also preparing for a future managerial role. The role involves overseeing client accounts, managing accounting tasks, and mentoring junior staff, with a clear path for growth into a managerial position.

Responsibilities

  • Attend team meetings and provide accounting/client updates.
  • Oversee client tasks, ensuring proper delegation and on-time completion by team members.
  • Train and mentor interns, junior accountants, and staff accountants.
  • Manage client accounts, ensuring projects are on track and completed on time.
  • Participate in client meetings and check-ins, providing financial insights and updates.
  • Send weekly client check-ins to maintain clear communication and rapport.
  • Perform weekly bookkeeping reviews using systems like Keeper and QuickBooks online.
  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with deadlines and accuracy.
  • Manage ongoing client requests, ensuring best-in-class service and communication.
  • Execute month-end adjustments, reviews, and closing tasks to produce accurate financial reports.
  • Finalize and upload financial reports for client review.
  • Take on a leadership role, overseeing both internal accounting teams and external client-facing teams.
  • Lead hiring and onboarding efforts as the department expands.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics (KPIs) to evaluate team success and efficiency.
  • Standardize and optimize accounting workflows, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency.
  • Participate in strategic planning with the leadership team to enhance the department's offerings.
  • Serve as the strategic advisor for key clients, helping them achieve their financial goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a master's level in business.
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of G/L accounting and reconciliations.
  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and adjustments.
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online (or comparable accounting software).
  • Experience communicating directly with clients and solving client issues.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • Strong interest in innovation and process creation.
