About the position

The Senior Accountant for Product Support Accounting is responsible for managing the accounting and analysis related to product costs within Comcast. This role involves preparing monthly and quarterly financial analyses and reports, handling journal entries, and reconciling month-end workpapers for Direct Product Costs, including Xfinity Home and Xfinity Mobile. The position also assists with internal and external audits and serves as a resource for less experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for various aspects of the National Product Support team, including support of the Xfinity Mobile, Xfinity Home, xFi Pods, and Strategy business units.
  • Calculates and records monthly journal entries related to Cost of Goods Sold and prepares monthly reconciliations for Inventory Held for Resale.
  • Provides analysis and management reporting for complex or sensitive areas to Senior Leadership and Internal & External auditors.
  • Coordinates and reviews Mobile inventory reset, including recommendations for automation and enhancements.
  • Supports Oracle Fusion implementation as needed.
  • Ensures that balance sheets are accurately stated and reconciled to the general ledger.
  • Researches variances, determines root causes, and makes recommendations for adjustments.
  • Enters monthly journal entries to properly record accounting transactions, ensuring that journal entries have proper backup to substantiate the entry.
  • Reviews financial statements for operating trends and results, researching variances to forecast and budget prior month and prior year.
  • Prepares financial reports, analyzing data for management review.
  • Presents monthly operating results to assigned business units or divisions and provides continuous support on related accounting issues.
  • Researches complex accounting data to comply with new accounting policy implementation.
  • Develops automated Oracle routines such as mass allocations and recurring journal entries.
  • Researches ways of streamlining and standardizing processes to support the Accounting function.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in accounting.
  • In-depth experience and knowledge in accounting principles and practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion or similar accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and auditors.
