About the position

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in the corporate accounting team at BD, focusing on complex revenue allocations, transactions, and accounting projects. This position requires collaboration with finance and cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies and procedures. The role is hybrid, based in San Diego, and emphasizes attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager of Revenue Recognition in applying the company's Revenue Recognition Policy and related accounting procedures.
  • Perform revenue allocations, month-end reconciliations, journal entry postings, and quarterly disclosures.
  • Review complex contracts to assess proper revenue treatment in accordance with ASC 606 and US GAAP.
  • Record revenue accruals and other balance sheet related entries as part of the month-end close process.
  • Analyze and maintain balance sheet accounts related to revenue and perform reconciliation and review procedures.
  • Collaborate with FP&A and project management stakeholders on revenue accounting treatments.
  • Participate in quarterly reviews and annual audits by providing supporting documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of audit experience.
  • CPA certificate preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail and ability to see the big picture.
  • Experience with ASC 606 and related revenue accounting principles is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP (or equivalent ERP system) and Blackline accounting close software is a plus.
