About the position

As a Senior Revenue Accountant at Zocdoc, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the company's revenue is accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP and reported to key stakeholders in a timely manner. This position offers the opportunity to drive change in the company's evolving billing processes. You will be part of a fast-paced, collaborative team environment with direct exposure to all levels of the organization, and you will have direct ownership of accounting for certain revenue streams. Your adaptability to new challenges, critical thinking skills, and focus on continuous process improvement will be essential as you work on month-end close procedures and the development of standard billing processes and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the month end close process for the company's revenue streams, including related accounts receivable, deferred revenue and contract cost GL accounts.
  • Evaluating the impact of new revenue pronouncements / standards on the Company's revenue recognition model in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting and Operations and the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting.
  • Working directly with the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting and Operations to review customer contracts and new product offerings, ensuring consistent application of revenue recognition policies in accordance with relevant accounting literature and corporate policy.
  • Creating and maintaining the company's revenue recognition accounting policies and memos in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Maintaining and enforcing adherence to company billing policies.
  • Answering ad hoc questions from the Operations, Sales, Service and Account Management teams throughout the organization related to revenue and billing.
  • Identifying areas of improvement in Zocdoc's billing system and collaborating with the Product Engineering team on enhancements to our existing processes.
  • Assisting with the financial audit by providing external auditors with supporting documentation and answering questions for areas of ownership.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of meaningful experience in an accounting role, with at least 2 busy seasons at a Big 4 Accounting Firm
  • An active CPA license in good standing
  • A thorough understanding of GAAP, especially ASC 606
  • Significant experience with accounting ERP systems, knowledge of NetSuite is a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office with advanced skills in Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels and cross-functionally within the company
  • Ability to recognize problems, gather data, draw valid conclusions and effectively present information to managers, peers and third parties
