About the position

The Senior Accountant at Fluence will serve as a key business partner to the Services Finance team, ensuring that financial performance for projects aligns with US GAAP standards. This role involves reviewing revenue calculations, managing costs, and ensuring the accuracy of balance sheet accounts while identifying areas for improvement. The position is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days in the office each week in either Alpharetta, GA, or Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review revenue recognition files for accuracy and compliance during month-end closing.
• Provide timely accounting, reporting, and system guidance to support the Services business.
• Calculate and maintain the monthly Assurance Warranty analysis, ensuring adherence to accounting standards.
• Collaborate with the Services Finance team for proper accounting of project costs, aiding in budgeting and forecasting.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of business transactions in the ERP system.
• Maintain the general ledger and oversee related accounting processes and reconciliations.
• Ensure SOX controls are executed timely and accurately for compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of services/project accounting experience within an industrial product organization.
• Familiarity with revenue recognition methodologies under ASC 606; knowledge of Long-Term Service Agreements is a plus.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting processes and revenue calculation.
• Experience with percentage of completion and straight-line revenue accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
• Proven critical thinking abilities and self-motivation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including automation capabilities.
