About the position

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant who is fluent in Spanish and has a strong background in public accounting or consulting. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in public accounting, including a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role. This role focuses on month-end close, audit, and compliance, requiring excellent analytical skills and a passion for financial accuracy and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform or oversee accounting functions including month-end and quarter-end close processes for subsidiaries of a public company.
  • Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements for subsidiaries.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
  • Stay updated with accounting standards and best practices, providing guidance to the accounting team.
  • Assist with the consolidation process ensuring accurate inter-company eliminations and compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist in annual external audit, compiling requested materials and responding to audit inquiries, especially regarding accounting procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements, including the implementation and maintenance of internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of public accounting or consulting experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Fluency in Spanish (verbal and written) and English.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification: CPA or progress towards certification is a plus but not required.
  • International experience and familiarity with cross-border financial reporting preferred but not required.
