About the position

The Senior Accountant (Sr Analyst, Technology Controllership) will play a crucial role in supporting the Technology business unit by overseeing financial reporting and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial statements. This position is essential for maintaining compliance with accounting requirements and fostering strong relationships across the organization, particularly with the shared service center that manages the monthly close process. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing multiple requests, meeting critical deadlines, and demonstrating a strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and current accounting concepts. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, along with a collaborative spirit and eagerness to learn. In this role, the Senior Accountant will monitor month-end close activities and act as a liaison with the shared service center to ensure the accuracy of financial results. They will guide financial decisions related to business transactions by providing accounting and regulatory advice while enforcing policies and procedures. A strong control environment is paramount, and the candidate will support, monitor, and enforce operational and SOX financial controls. The position requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls, as well as the ability to complete monthly and quarterly deliverables that assist in analyzing actuals and forecasts. The Senior Accountant will prepare monthly reporting and analysis of financial results, proactively researching and resolving financial inquiries and issues. They will ensure ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on necessary actions. Additionally, the role involves supporting various financial business cases, models, and standard templates to ensure quality, accuracy, and focused analytic review. The candidate will also contribute to special projects and perform various ad-hoc reporting or analysis as needed, all while maintaining a strong customer service focus. Participation in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance operational controls, efficiency, and quality of output is also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors month-end close activity and acts as liaison with the shared service center to drive accuracy of results and provide open communication link between the groups.
  • Guides financial decisions related to business transactions by providing accounting/regulatory advice and by monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Ensures a strong control environment by supporting, monitoring, and enforcing operational and SOX financial controls.
  • Demonstrates appropriate understanding and working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
  • Completes monthly and quarterly deliverables to assist in analysis of actuals and forecast.
  • Prepares monthly reporting and analysis of financial results and proactively research and resolve financial inquiries and issues.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Support various financial business cases, models, and standard templates ensuring quality, accuracy, and focused analytic review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, highly preferred.
  • CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent credential (or working toward designation).
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and current accounting concepts.
  • Preferred work experience - public accounting firm background with increasing levels of responsibility or similar technical accounting experience in large public company.

  • Advanced MS Office skills (primarily Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of enterprise financial systems (e.g., Oracle/Hyperion, SAP).
  • Experience with automation tools (Alteryx, Power Query, Advanced Excel) would be a plus.
