About the position

EFPR Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Tax and Business Services Team in Buffalo, New York. This role is designed for experienced professionals with a strong background in tax compliance, tax planning, and business advisory services. The Senior Accountant will manage multiple client engagements, ensuring quality and timely service while providing expert financial advice and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
  • Develop tax-efficient strategies to minimize clients' tax liabilities and maximize financial resources.
  • Advise clients on financial and business decisions, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing personalized service and innovative tax planning and consulting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Stay updated on tax law changes and regulatory updates, ensuring clients are informed and compliant.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to analyze financial statements and provide insights for business decision-making.
  • Assist in client development and retention activities, including proposals, presentations, and networking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of professional accounting experience, focusing on tax and business services
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal, organizational, technological, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously
  • Experience with tax research software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations
  • Professional demeanor, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information sensitively
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on industry trends

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification or significant progress towards completing licensure
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ProSystems, CCH Axcess)
