About the position

The Senior Accountant at Virta Health plays a crucial role in transforming type 2 diabetes and weight-loss care through financial management and compliance. This position involves preparing journal entries, maintaining month-end close processes, ensuring GAAP compliance, and supporting the annual financial statement audit. The Senior Accountant will also analyze financial statements and assist with operational reporting, contributing to the company's mission of reversing diabetes in 100 million people.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations
• Help maintain and improve month-end close processes, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with GAAP
• Respond to information requests and assist with the annual financial statement audit, including project management related aspects of the audit
• Analyze financial statements and GL accounts to ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual fluctuations are in line with expectations and documented
• Prepare operational and ad hoc reporting for additional analysis associated with financial statement areas assigned
• Assist the accounting manager, director of accounting, and controller as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 3-4 years of experience preferably with a public accounting/private accounting mix
• CPA preferred
• Experience with one or more complex areas of accounting including but not limited to revenue recognition, inventory, stock-based compensation, debt/equity financing, business combinations or investments
• Ability to read and analyze financial statements/reports
• Comfort with ambiguity and lack of formally defined processes
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Highly organized and detail oriented
