About the position

The Senior Accountant position at CEO is a vital role within the Administrative and Fiscal department, aimed at supporting the agency's mission to improve lives in the community. This role involves maintaining grant compliance, overseeing financial processes, and ensuring accurate reporting while fostering a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of specific grant guidelines and assist with program funding source monitoring as requested.
  • Assist with annual audit process of agency, workers compensation audit and tax return.
  • Coordinate accounts payable and purchase order processing so transactions are processed timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for accurate and proper input and review of accounting batches for accounts payable vouchers and general ledger journal entries.
  • Monitor monthly accounts payable statements and ensure no outstanding issues regarding payment. Report on status and any outstanding issues or delinquent balances to Fiscal Manager on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate bi-weekly stipend payments for assigned programs i.e. Foster Grandparents. Ensure that they are processed accurately and timely.
  • Supervise and oversee assigned staff. Ensure that daily tasks are completed and schedule weekly job assignments.
  • Assist with the agency pension plan administration to include accurate contribution, recordkeeping, and plan accounting. Assist CFO in compiling annual Pension Census.
  • Assist CFO with annual program specific reports and monitoring such as CSBG ACROS and APR reports.
  • Prepare monthly fiscal reports that may be required at the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, including budget projections. Ensure all completed reports are accurate and timely as required by grant specifications.
  • Coordinate monthly reporting for assigned programs, such as HPNAP, WIC, Weatherization, etc. and assist with preparation of budget line-item interchanges.
  • Responsible for maintaining non-grant (fee-for-service) funding services, i.e. UPK programs and Empower.
  • Responsible for review of accurate and proper input and review of accounting batches for cash receipts, vouchers, and general ledgers as well as preparation of purchase orders.
  • Assist with maintaining non-grant (fee-for-service) funding services, i.e. Extended Tuition programs, Empower and Misc. Rehab programs.
  • Comply with all finance office and agency policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (specifically Excel and QuickBooks)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in progressive Fiscal responsibilities
