About the position
As the Senior Accountant, you will focus on leading the life company's implementation and ongoing GAAP accounting and reporting process. This includes the development and maintenance of the appropriate infrastructure associated with it. The position will also be responsible for researching both GAAP and STAT to ensure the organization complies with existing and emerging accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Direct the life company's GAAP conversion process
- Develop standardized accounting and reporting infrastructure for the insurance entity, including system implementation, policies, procedures, and internal control structure.
- Lead quarterly GAAP and STAT financial close.
- Partner with other functional areas to produce GAAP and STAT financials in a timely and controlled process.
- Lead the accounting research function
- Lead the external audit process for the GAAP financials
- Assist the finance leadership team in the interpretation and presentation of GAAP financial results with key stakeholders, including the Board and external investors.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree with accounting major, or equivalent experience.
- CPA preferred, or comparable work experience.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting standards and applicability to life insurance.
