About the position

The Senior Accountant at Kennedy-Donovan Center, Inc. is responsible for preparing financial reports, maintaining the general ledger, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with audit preparations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple tasks effectively while collaborating with the finance team and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial reports and perform research and analysis.
  • Maintain the general ledger and perform account reconciliations.
  • Assist with audit preparations and fiscal year-end close.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to develop and monitor internal accounting controls.
  • Review month-end financial statements and research significant fluctuations.
  • Manage monthly financial schedules and reconciliation of fixed assets and liabilities.
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger for accuracy.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and adjusting entries.
  • Verify and post all transactions in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and analyze accounting records and financial statements for accuracy.
  • Supervise direct reports and ensure proper training.
  • Collaborate with internal departments for accurate program reporting.
  • Implement procedures for detailed reviews of financial documents.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual Uniform Financial Statement and Independent Auditor's Report.
  • Maintain organized and complete accounting records in compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Evaluate and inventory real property and equipment.
  • Maintain construction-in-process schedule and record journal entries for Fixed Assets.
  • Identify accounting irregularities and suggest process improvements.
  • Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
  • Participate in business processes and technology integration initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with KDC policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Intellectual curiosity and creativity.
  • High level of expertise in MS Excel.
  • Supervisory skills to train and supervise others.
  • Proficiency in MS Teams, Outlook, and accounting software such as Blackbaud NXT Financial Edge.
