About the position

The Senior Accountant position at MCI involves managing the accounting department's operations, providing leadership and support while performing complex accounting duties. The role requires overseeing financial records, leading accounting personnel, and ensuring compliance with policies and standards. This position is part of the executive management team and plays a crucial role in the financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform Accounts Receivable functions including invoicing, manual check application, aging reports, and account reconciliation
• Enter routine journal entries and bank transactions
• Enter AP bills and credit card transactions if needed
• Perform month-end closing and reconciliation
• Reconcile, investigate, correct, and adjust accounting information
• Perform bank reconciliation
• Support department peers as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 1-2 years of accrual basis accounting working experience including accounts receivable, journal entries, month-end closing and reconciliation, and bank reconciliation
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact within all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, organize and manage projects
• Detail-oriented, excellent proofreading and editing skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, organized, able to prioritize and work independently
• Exceptionally self-motivated and directed
