About the position

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This position involves overseeing general ledger reconciliations, month-end close processes, and financial reporting while supporting various financial projects. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and eager to contribute to the team's success.

Responsibilities

  • Executing assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closing processes
  • Assisting in the development and organization of financial statements, reports, and budget preparation, timely and accurately
  • Reviewing and analyzing variances to budget/forecast and to previous reporting periods on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Preparing monthly account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Preparing expenses analysis to support the annual budgeting process
  • Supporting External Auditors with the annual audit and quarterly reviews
  • Balancing and maintaining subsidiary accounts by allocating, posting, verifying, and reconciling accounts receivable and payable
  • Assisting with operational audits to assess compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Playing an important part in the organization's financial management which involves all record reconciliations and reporting to essential parties
  • Working closely with other functional areas and business management to resolve issues and support the achievement of business goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field from a four-year institution
  • 2+ years' experience as a mid-senior level Accountant
  • Good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial accounting statements, and business trends
  • Adequate experience with accounting software packages and MS Office; Excel, Word, Access, etc.
  • Ability to work with others in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and management
  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, performs work independently without being prompted
  • Proper oral and written communication with both financial and non-financial individuals
  • Exceptional organization skills and high attention to detail
  • Completes all administrative tasks in assigned times (required)

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Public Accounting experience (Big 4)
  • Experience within the government contracting industry
