About the position

The Senior Accountant position is a contract role focused on overseeing key accounting processes and ensuring compliance with financial operations. This hybrid position requires the candidate to work onsite 3-4 days per week in Burlington, MA, and involves a strong background in general accounting, accounts receivable/accounts payable (AR/AP), payroll, and tax compliance, with proficiency in QuickBooks and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform cash and transaction categorization using QuickBooks.
• Process daily checks and wires, linking payments to customer profiles.
• Issue client invoices, manage billing contacts, and assist with contract management.
• Chase outstanding accounts receivable and oversee payables, including vendor management and expense analysis.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations, book journal entries, and calculate revenue as part of the month-end close process.
• Process payrolls, review commissions and bonuses, and ensure accurate deductions in the HRIS system.
• Manage annual income and state tax filings, quarterly tax payments, and monthly sales tax reconciliations.
• Support financial statement audits by preparing process memos and updating audit requests.
• Categorize R&D expenses and oversee valuation processes for stock compensation reporting.
• Act as a resource for contractor billing and refund inquiries from internal teams.
• Collaborate with departments to maintain compliance and streamline financial workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience in accounting, including AR/AP, payroll, and tax compliance.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office Suite.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and audit processes.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment.
