About the position

The position involves performing general cost accounting and related duties within a leading engineering and manufacturing company specializing in military and rugged industrial products. The role is crucial for ensuring compliance with accounting standards and improving financial processes, contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cost accounting and related duties for the organization
• Prepares Balance Sheet reconciliations and maintains schedules/roll forwards (e.g., cash, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, credit cards, deferrals)
• Owns month-end close tasks and drives process improvements and efficiencies in balance sheet reconciliations
• Works with the Corporate Controller and Accounting Manager on technical accounting issues ensuring compliance with GAAP and Company policies
• Collaborates with external auditors and gathers necessary account information for the annual audit
• Supports the organization and execution of the annual Physical Inventory or Cycle Counting process
• Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies

Requirements

• BS in Accounting or related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
• Prior experience with Government/Defense Contractor is a plus
• Experience with SAP highly preferred
