About the position

The Senior Accountant at Aston Carter is responsible for overseeing the accounting department, providing mentorship, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role involves managing accounts receivable, vendor payments, and conducting financial analyses to support project managers. The position requires strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of accounting practices, particularly in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to the accounting department.
• Handle customer and vendor inquiries and address employee questions.
• Supervise accounts receivable functions, including the preparation of AIA invoices, collections, deposits, and lien reviews.
• Oversee vendor payments through checks, credit cards, and electronic funds transfers.
• Review contract documents for compliance, billing, and revenue.
• Conduct revenue and expense analysis on projects and assist project managers.
• Review accounting reports for errors and ensure necessary corrections are made.
• Maintain accurate data records for audits.

Requirements

• 3+ years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
• 1 year of management/leadership experience.
• Management or leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, lead, and motivate other accounting staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Thorough knowledge of general accounting.
• Effective time management.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred.
