About the position

The Senior Accountant provides professional-level accounting and finance support under the supervision of the Chief Accountant. Responsibilities include preparing and overseeing financial reports, supporting audits, collaborating with operating departments to develop accounting procedures, and ensuring compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards and other regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in financial reconciliation, debt management, and property tax reporting, while contributing to the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and supporting external audits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and oversee financial reports.
• Support audits.
• Collaborate with operating departments to develop accounting procedures.
• Ensure compliance with GASB standards and other regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to financial reconciliation, debt management, and property tax reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting.
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience performing budgetary or financial analysis, or auditing.
• At least one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience.
