About the position

The Senior Accounting Analyst at MathWorks plays a crucial role in supporting the Finance team by ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, coordinating annual audits, and driving internal compliance initiatives. This position offers exposure to senior management and opportunities to leverage technology for process improvements, all while fostering personal and professional growth within a collaborative global team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Global Finance Team to prepare and deliver timely and accurate financial results and insightful analysis.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and review monthly consolidated results.
  • Oversee unusual transactions and provide reporting to help senior management understand business drivers.
  • Coordinate the annual audit by managing timelines and deliverables with external auditors and MathWorks staff.
  • Identify opportunities to create efficiencies through technology or process changes.
  • Standardize and streamline recurring processes and data collection activities, establishing best practices to improve efficiency.
  • Support internal compliance activities related to worldwide accounting and transaction processing, pricing, and standardization initiatives.
  • Assist with various projects, from executing tasks on larger cross-functional projects to managing smaller projects.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience, or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Previous professional work experience in finance, preferably in a software or cloud-based company.
  • Ability to understand, review, and explain financial results and business drivers.
  • Creative problem-solving and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • CPA or CA designation preferred.
  • Effective communication skills to present data, insights, and recommendations clearly.
  • Proficiency with technology tools such as Power BI for process streamlining and data analysis.
