About the position

The Senior Accounting Analyst will join Principal's Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) Expense team, focusing on managing expense forecasting and reporting for all RIS cost centers. This role involves collaboration with finance and business leaders to provide insights into expense management, tracking strategic project expenses, and preparing external reports. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, with informal leadership experience being essential for potential formal leadership responsibilities in the future.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Expense Forecast and Reporting for all RIS cost centers.
• Allocate expenses within RIS and track strategic project expenses and outcomes.
• Calculate key performance indicators and prepare various external reports, including benchmarking studies.
• Collaborate with finance and business leaders to provide insights into expense management and control.
• Work closely with operational teams and management to address their financial needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of financial analysis experience required.
• Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and analytical skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently, drive results, and take initiative.
• Adaptability in a dynamic and changing environment.
• Proficiency in Excel is required; experience with Power BI and SQL is preferred.
• Familiarity with Essbase, PeopleSoft, expense allocation, forecasting, and reporting is advantageous.
