About the position

The Senior Accounting Analyst in Financial Reporting at Calpine is a key role responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and debt accounting. This position requires collaboration within the financial reporting team and across various departments to prepare essential accounting reports, including quarterly and annual filings. The analyst will leverage their expertise in SEC reporting and debt accounting to contribute to the preparation of consolidated financial documents and maintain debt amortization schedules, while also testing internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review quarterly and annual accounting reports, including consolidated 10Q and 10K documents.
• Record all debt accounting entries and maintain debt amortization schedules.
• Analyze data and prepare journal entries for financial reporting activities.
• Complete tie out of reporting documents and manage monthly and quarterly close responsibilities.
• Perform account reconciliations and create management reporting packages and analyses.
• Collaborate with other accounting groups and Treasury on day-to-day activities.
• Support additional projects as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• Minimum of 4 - 6 years of related work experience, specifically in reporting.
• Strong analytical and computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience with Peoplesoft and Workiva is preferred but not required.
• Ability to comprehend process automation and integration.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with significant deadlines.
• Willingness to work longer hours at various times during the year to meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves
