About the position

The Financial Reporting position at Freeport-McMoRan involves managing the external reporting function for the company and its subsidiaries. This includes preparing SEC filings such as Form 10-Q/K, drafting financial reports, and collaborating with various departments to ensure compliance with accounting standards. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams, as well as occasional travel to corporate offices or site locations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting footnotes, MD&A, or other assigned sections of the company's Form 10-Q/K or other SEC filings.
  • Prepare the company's quarterly earnings release.
  • Assist with the company's SEC filings in Workiva, including iXBRL tagging.
  • Prepare comprehensive workpapers supporting external and internal reports.
  • Work directly with external auditors on the audit of information included within these reports.
  • Participate in the monthly accounting close, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Gather and analyze data for external filings and internal management reports.
  • Participate in the review of financial reports for compliance with accounting standards.
  • Research accounting guidance/issues and prepare supporting documentation/memos.
  • Provide assistance in the completion of special projects as requested.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area AND three (3) years of accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area AND five (5) years of accounting experience.
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area AND seven (7) years of professional experience in accounting.
  • High School diploma or GED AND nine (9) years of professional experience in accounting, including two (2) years in prolonged intellectual instruction in Accounting or Finance.
  • Understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and SEC Regulations.
