About the position

The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee all functions of the accounting department for a large billion-dollar Tier 1 company. This role is crucial for managing the company's financial operations, including financial accounting, cost accounting, treasury, and tax accounting. The position requires bilingual proficiency in Japanese and involves direct reporting to the CFO, with responsibilities that include managing staff, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and general ledger entries.
• Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements and cash management reports.
• Perform cash management tasks including international and domestic wire transfers and maintaining lines of credit.
• Coordinate the development and preparation of budgets, forecasts, and projections.
• Manage the preparation of State Sales and Use Taxes for various states.
• Direct the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and detailed analysis reports.
• Handle employee relations within the accounting department, including recruitment and retention.
• Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP, IFRS) and company procedures.
• Conduct studies and submit recommendations for improving the accounting operations.
• Liaison between the company and parent company on accounting matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• Valid CPA or CMA certification is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience managing a team of 5 or more staff is preferred.
• Automobile industry experience of 5 years or more is a plus.
• Advanced skills in spreadsheets (MS Excel) and intermediate skills in databases (MS Access) are preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Japanese is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with JSOX management is a plus.
• Ability to handle large data sets effectively.
