About the position

Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead the daily operations of the Final Assembly Line (FAL) Accounting team. This role is pivotal in overseeing the processing of transactions, journal entries, account reconciliations, and the preparation of FAL financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Senior Accounting Manager will work closely with Corporate Accounting and Finance leadership to ensure compliance with financial regulations, meet deadlines, achieve accuracy, and maintain required records and documentation. This position also involves providing input to the Operating Plan (OP) and developing financial reports that reflect FAL operations, including expense ratios, production costs, and other key manufacturing financial metrics. In addition to daily operations, the Senior Accounting Manager will ensure alignment with technical accounting standards, Airbus Group policies, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This includes researching and documenting technical accounting analyses of non-recurring transactions, developing accounting policies, and monitoring and implementing new accounting standards for the site. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting policies and procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the FAL Accounting Team in performing daily accounting operations, monitoring and analyzing accounting data, and producing financial reports. They will establish and maintain fiscal files and records, ensure compliance with IFRS and/or Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and coordinate with the Corporate Controller's office for periodic closing reporting. The Senior Accounting Manager will also prepare and review FAL financial statements and related footnotes for inclusion in the annually audited financial statements, ensuring compliance with all reporting and disclosure requirements. This role will involve coordinating and completing annual audits, preparing written accounting memos for senior management and external auditors, and developing strong relationships with audit firms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the FAL Accounting Team in performing daily accounting operations including periodic closing processes, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, treasury, and fixed asset activity.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and/or CAS, including documentation of cumulative costs and transactions, exclusion of unallowable expenses, and allocation of project hours.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Controller's office in preparation of periodic closing reporting and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and review FAL financial statements and related footnotes for inclusion in the annually audited financial statements, ensuring compliance with all reporting and disclosure requirements under IFRS and/or CAS.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits.
  • Prepare written accounting memos documenting accounting issues and transactions for review by senior management and external auditors.
  • Develop strong relationships with audit firms.
  • Communicate and reinforce accounting policy controls and procedures to ensure adherence to such policies by FAL operations and functional leadership.
  • Review and manage the support for completion of required government filings as required.
  • Conduct meetings for Estimates At Completion (EAC), revenue recognition, account reconciliation, and financial statement flux analysis.
  • Support the preparation of monthly Tax provision, applicable VAT filings, and year-end tax packages for submission to the Global tax group, and complete monthly Tax balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of Public Accounting experience or a minimum of five (5) years of Financial Reporting experience.
  • Two years' experience managing a professional accounting team.
  • Working knowledge and experience with general ledger systems and financial statements including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Equity, and Statement of Cash Flows.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience with long-term contract revenue recognition and EACs.
  • Experience managing financial statement audits.
  • Government Contracting experience with working knowledge of CAS standards.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing is a plus.
