About the position

The Senior Accounting Specialist at Lynker Corporation plays a crucial role in managing budgetary and financial operations, particularly in support of a long-term government contract with NOAA. This position involves preparing and analyzing complex invoices, managing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive experience in accounting to oversee financial documentation and contribute to process improvements within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit detailed invoices to the government for payment, ensuring all supporting financial documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Review and submit monthly accruals for materials and subcontractor costs, and conduct monthly Unbilled Cost Analysis and other direct cost reports.
  • Monitor and track all costs related to contracts, including labor summary reports, travel reports, subcontractor reports, and summary reports.
  • Perform financial and comparison analyses of invoice backup reports in relation to monthly customer invoices.
  • Evaluate subcontractor invoices for accurate usage of financial codes and cost accuracy.
  • Approve purchase requests (PRs) in the system after analyzing the consumable inventory spreadsheet for funding.
  • Conduct weekly data collection and evaluation to clean the system of corrections and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review detailed monthly Estimates at Completion (EACs) for all contract lines for customers.
  • Attend monthly meetings with corporate finance management to review and propose improvements to the invoicing process.
  • Maintain project charge numbers within the cost accounting system, ensuring quality assurance and accurate financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a government contracting environment.
  • Strong understanding of budgetary and financial operations.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with cost accounting systems and financial tracking.
  • Ability to handle complex invoicing and financial documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
