About the position

Avient Corporation is seeking a Senior Accounts Manager to drive profitable growth through the commercial management and sales of Avient Specialty Engineered Material rigid and TPE plastic solutions. This role focuses on serving top manufacturers in the Energy, Building and Construction, and Telecom industries, with a particular emphasis on Wire and Cable polymer solutions. The Senior Accounts Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans that align with annual objectives for sales, margins, and volume growth. The position requires a proactive approach to increasing Avient's presence and functional interaction with both existing and prospective customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling them to build relationships across all levels of management. This role demands an individual who can assist customers and Avient account team members in problem-solving, delivering solutions with energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism. The Senior Accounts Manager will operate independently with minimal oversight, effectively interacting and influencing at the managerial peer level. The position requires up to 50% travel, reflecting the need for direct engagement with clients and stakeholders. Key responsibilities include achieving profitable revenue growth, establishing and tracking new business targets, and developing account plans that leverage resources across both the customer's organization and Avient. The Senior Accounts Manager will also be responsible for managing sales plans, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring alignment with the company's long-term business objectives. This role is critical in projecting a unified "One Avient" presence and requires a strong understanding of customer needs to recommend appropriate Avient product solutions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with technical and customer service teams to meet customer requirements and satisfaction, contributing to the overall success of Avient's growth strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Drive profitable revenue growth through the commercial management and sales of Avient Specialty Engineered Material solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve annual sales, margin, and volume growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers to enhance Avient's presence in the market.
  • Utilize customer-centric selling skills and tools to effectively approach the sales process.
  • Establish, track, and close new business targets within accounts.
  • Create and manage account development plans and network resources across the customer's organization.
  • Develop, execute, and manage sales plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with other Avient business segments to project a unified presence.
  • Prospect within accounts to establish new relationships and business opportunities.
  • Maintain CRM data and sales statistics as required.
  • Act as a business consultant to customers, advising on best product solutions and pricing.
  • Execute the growth strategy set by the Sales Manager and Market Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Plastics or Polymer Engineering, Business, Chemistry, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of sales experience in account management/sales within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong complex thinking skills to translate customer needs into solutions.
  • Technical aptitude with a broad knowledge of solutions, materials, and processing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
