About the position

The Senior Accounts Receivable Accountant at Squire Patton Boggs is responsible for managing and analyzing the Firm's client accounting and Sub-Ledger accounts. This role involves coordinating client billing, collections, and payments, assisting with annual audits, and performing various financial analysis projects. The position requires a strong understanding of the Firm's Financial Accounting system and excellent communication skills to interact with attorneys and clients effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of the Firm's Financial Accounting system, including client maintenance, reporting, and inquiry functions.
  • Monitors client billing and receipts to ensure timely and accurate postings, assisting Client Accounting Specialists when necessary.
  • Responds to inquiries from Attorneys, Client Service Representatives, and Secretaries regarding time entry, bill processing, client payments, e-billing, and related informational requests.
  • Assists in the investigation and resolution of lockbox issues, unidentified client receipts, and client credit and disbursement issues.
  • Maintains partner draw information and communicates draw releases to Payroll, participating in month-end processing, including pre-bill selection and report preparation.
  • Reconciles Sub-Ledger accounts to the General Ledger.
  • Prepares journal entries and client Pre-bills to facilitate monthly closing.
  • Prepares actual/budget variance analysis as requested.
  • Performs additional analysis projects for the Controller on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Four years of accounting and financial analysis experience, including accounts receivable and billing functions, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with Aderant Expert is beneficial.
