About the position

The Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist at VelocityEHS is a remote role focused on managing the accounts receivable process, ensuring timely collections, and maintaining customer relationships. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and collaboratively across departments to resolve billing discrepancies and support team members. The role involves significant communication with customers and internal teams to uphold service level agreements and improve data accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Research and resolve billing and payment discrepancies
  • Conduct collection activities for past-due invoices
  • Make a minimum of 60 collection calls daily and follow up for assigned accounts
  • Manage a collection portfolio of $10 - 12 million with an average cash recovery of $3.5 - 4 million a month
  • Address inbound billing calls and emails, escalating accounts as needed
  • Train and onboard Assistant and Accounts Receivables Specialists
  • Support Assistant and Accounts Receivables Specialists with escalated customer accounts
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Organize and document purchase orders and vendor setups
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to customers to ensure SLAs are upheld
  • Enter and maintain customer accounts in contact management software
  • Organize and file documents into customer folders
  • Verify customer information in Salesforce and Intacct
  • Cancel customer accounts and file notifications appropriately
  • Work across departments to maintain and improve customer information accuracy
  • Build and strengthen relationships across teams
  • Document internal processes for increased efficiency

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 7+ years of related professional experience
  • 4+ years collections experience
  • Proficient in general accounting knowledge and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Accurate and effective analytical and organizational skills
  • Insightful problem-solving skills
  • Experience interacting with business customers
  • Proven commitment to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
