About the position

The Senior Actuarial Analyst at Prime Therapeutics plays a crucial role in providing complex actuarial and pricing analyses to both existing and potential clients. This position is pivotal in utilizing, building, and developing innovative actuarial modeling concepts that assist strategically with trend analysis, benefit design, and pricing support across all lines of business, including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid. The Senior Actuary will also be involved in providing actuarial support for complex projects that are highly visible to senior leadership and across the organization, ensuring that the analyses and models developed are aligned with the company's strategic goals. In this role, the Senior Actuarial Analyst will own, build, support, and maintain financial and complex actuarial models. They will lead, perform, and review data analyses, reporting, and projections, as well as conduct complex ad hoc pharmacy data mining and analyses to address challenging questions regarding actuarial data and concepts. Collaboration is key, as the analyst will work closely with Underwriters, other departments within Prime, and senior leaders on pricing initiatives, data analyses, and the Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Presenting results and analyses to key stakeholders, senior management, and clients is a significant aspect of this role, requiring strong communication and presentation skills. Additionally, the Senior Actuarial Analyst will mentor team members to enhance their actuarial knowledge and ensure that all work is consistent with applicable actuarial standards. The position may also involve other duties as assigned, contributing to the dynamic and fast-paced environment at Prime Therapeutics.

Responsibilities

  • Own, build, support, and maintain financial and complex actuarial models
  • Lead, perform, and review data analyses, reporting, and projections
  • Lead, perform, and review complex ad hoc pharmacy data mining and analyses
  • Collaborate with Underwriters, other areas of Prime, and senior leaders on pricing initiatives, data analyses, and the RFP process
  • Present results and analyses to key stakeholders, senior management, and clients
  • Mentor Actuarial team members to enhance actuarial knowledge
  • Ensure work is consistent with actuarial standards, as applicable
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Economics or Finance
  • 5 years of actuarial work experience to include 3 years in a healthcare organization or PBM
  • Actuarial designation (ASA or FSA)
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Excel; intermediate level of proficiency in SAS, SQL, or VBA
  • Excellent quantitative, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to balance and follow-up on multiple projects with attention to details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of actuarial work experience in a healthcare organization or PBM
  • Previous experience pricing Commercial, Medicare or Medicaid lines of businesses
  • 3 years of experience in SAS, SQL, or VBA
  • Previous experience in model development
