About the position

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst in the Specialty & International division at Uber, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the transportation space through innovative actuarial practices. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply traditional actuarial skills in non-traditional ways, focusing on optimizing Uber and Uber Carshare's insurance programs and coverage schemes. You will be responsible for providing timely, accurate, and actionable actuarial estimates that will directly impact the company's strategic decisions and financial outcomes. In this role, you will build, maintain, and enhance various processes related to claims and financial data creation and validation. Your work will involve conducting detailed actuarial analyses, facilitating internal and external communications, and assessing financial impacts and forecasts. You will collaborate closely with a talented cross-functional team that includes risk managers, legal experts, and finance stakeholders, ensuring that your insights contribute to the overall success of the organization. Responsibilities

  • Deploy traditional actuarial skills and training in innovative ways to provide actuarial estimates that optimize insurance programs.
  • Build, maintain, and improve processes including claims and financial data creation and validation.
  • Conduct actuarial analysis and assess financial impacts and forecasts.
  • Facilitate internal and external communication regarding actuarial findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of risk managers, legal, and finance stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 4+ CAS Exams completed and a minimum of 3 years of P&C actuarial experience.
  • BA/BS in Math, Statistics, Economics, or a similar field.
  • Excellent Excel skills and proficiency with SQL or other database programming languages.
  • Experience with commercial or personal auto insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Great communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively as a team player.
  • Balance attention to detail with swift and practical execution.
  • Experience with large account or reinsurance pricing/reserving.
  • Familiarity with R and/or Python programming languages.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with claims and finance teams.
  • ACAS or FCAS designation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IFRS 17 is a plus.
